Distinguished Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa (CON), born on 16th September 1960 in Yandoton-Daji, Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State, is a renowned engineer, lawmaker, and advocate of good governance. A graduate of Kaduna Polytechnic (ND & HND in Chemical Engineering) and an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (USA), Marafa's career spans engineering, public service, and national politics.
Before politics, he worked with Kaduna Refining and Petroleum Company (KRPC) and later served as Commissioner for Water Resources and Commissioner for Education in Zamfara State. Elected Senator for Zamfara Central in 2011 and re-elected in 2015, he distinguished himself as a fearless, result-oriented legislator.
During his tenure, he championed reforms in the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), facilitated the establishment of Federal University Gusau and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) office in Zamfara, and implemented numerous empowerment and infrastructure projects. His humanitarian efforts have uplifted widows, students, and small business owners. In recognition of his service, he received the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in 2014.
